As we think, so we are. Never say anything unkind about anyone. Avoid drawing attention to yourself. Do not grumble. Go through each day with praise. Control your imaginations and daydreams. Never think of yourself as the key player. Eliminate all reading and other pleasures that harm rather than enrich your life.

There is no reason to pass over this book because it happens to be poetry. These poems are a compilation of four books written over a lifetime, coming from a young and vital heart viewing everyday life in an illuminating way. This poet's rememberings can't be told in a brief blurb. They speak for themselves, both joyous and sad. Enough said.

The place of the psychotherapist within the hierarchy of the medical profession and his status in the public opinion are ambiguous: many myths and ill-informed fears cloud the practice of psychotherapy not the least of which is the thorny issue of doctor-patient relationships. In this finely etched book, Peter Lomas puts the case for a personal psychotherapeutic approach based on his work with patients over many years. The Psychotherapy of Everyday Life argues that the response to a person who comes for help should be an intuitive one, not hidebound by confusing technical theory. Psychotherapy is best understood as the application of ordinary interpersonal competence within an unusual setting, and formulations about its nature should take this point into account as their starting point. In his brilliant new introduction, the author juxtaposes the clinical neutrality of Sigmund Freud to the Saridor Ferenczi position, which entails a sense of the rights of and respect for the patient. Lomas holds that Freud initiated the setting but brought to bear upon it an unnecessary and inappropriate theoretical superstructure that now stands between therapist and patient. It is not ideology but everyday judgment that should be the touchstone of treatment. Rigid professional distance can blind the analyst to the actual needs of real people.

An amazing book that will leave the reader uneasy and surprised by the synergy between the biblical text and modern science. In this work, Bishop Robson Rodovalho and Professor Gerald Schroeder take a fantastic journey into the unknown, taking a scientific look at the text of the Holy Scriptures and bringing new insights that may surprise readers who are used to traditional biblical translations. In an extensive work, the authors guided their study in the translation of the Bible in ancient Hebrew, drawing a parallel with modern cosmology and the most recent experiments in Quantum Physics. The authors argue that, although the Bible is not a scientific manual, it does contain statements with scientific implications. They cite as examples the creation of the Universe, the origin and development of life. For this very reason, in this work, they argue that contrary to what many people think, there is no need for a dichotomy between Science and the Bible. for the authors, the original biblical texts are consistent with scientific points of view and with the discoveries of modern physics, cosmology, biology, anthropology, geology, history, chemistry, mathematics, sociology and neurology.
