What Is Water

by Jamie Linton, What Is Water Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download What Is Water books, We all know what water is, and we often take it for granted. But the spectre of a worldwide water crisis suggests that there might be something fundamentally wrong with the way we think about water. Jamie Linton dives into the history of water as an abstract concept, stripped of its environmental, social, and cultural contexts. Reduced to a scientific abstraction - to mere H20 - this concept has given modern society licence to dam, divert, and manipulate water with apparent impunity. Part of the solution to the water crisis involves reinvesting water with social content, thus altering the way we see water. An original take on a deceptively complex issue, What Is Water? offers a fresh approach to a fundamental problem.

Alternative To Water Supply Systems In Water Scarce Areas

by Dinee Tamang, Alternative To Water Supply Systems In Water Scarce Areas Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Alternative To Water Supply Systems In Water Scarce Areas books, Nepal, a country which still teaches its students that Nepal is second richest country in terms of per capita water resources has little to be proud of this fact owing to the continuous scarcity of water faced by its people every day. It is not only pure drinking water that is in shortage but also the water for other uses. Many new alternatives to water supply like Rainwater Harvesting system, Fog water Collection system and water tankers have been discussed as some of the possibilities for the same. These alternatives were compared by calculating the cost of water collected from each alternative considering their life span, investment and payback period from the perspective of the consumer and testing for the E.Coli contamination. The perception of people was positive towards these alternatives yet there was not enough awareness about the alternatives. Rain Water harvesting system was found as the best alternative with easy implementation in almost all parts of the country, zero energy input and cheapest alternative to collect potable water. This book should help researchers and people who wish to gain an insight into existing alternatives for water supply systems in Nepal.
