Violent States And Creative States Volume 2

by John Adlam, Violent States And Creative States Volume 2 Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Violent States And Creative States Volume 2 books, This is a provocative collection exploring the different types of violence and how they relate to one another, examined through the integration of several disciplines, including forensic psychotherapy, psychiatry, sociology, psychosocial studies and political science. By examining the 'violent states' of mind behind specific forms of violence and the social and societal contexts in which an individual act of human violence takes place, the contributors reveal the dynamic forces and reasoning behind specific forms of violence including structural violence, and conceptualise the societal structures themselves as 'violent states'. Other research often stops short at examining the causes and risk factors for violence, without considering the opposite states that may not only mitigate, but allow for a different unfolding of individual and societal evolution. As a potential antidote to violence, the authors prescribe an understanding of these 'creative states' with their psychological origins, and their importance in human behaviour and meaning-seeking. Making a call to move beyond merely mitigating violence to the opposite direction of fostering creative potential, this book is foundational in its capacity to cultivate social consciousness and effect positive change in areas of governance, policy-making, and collective responsibility. Volume 2: Human Violence and Creative Humanity explores violent states of mind, behavioural or subjective, interpersonal violence (including self-injury) and the fine distinctions between violent and creative states of mind.

by Tyrone Barnes, The Mind Of The Forensic Poet Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Mind Of The Forensic Poet books, Tyrone Barnes is a street poet who has witnessed the devastating results of a turf war, the violence associated with knives and guns, and the influences of education on youth. In a raw and moving collection of urban poetry, Barnes lyrically explores why violence does not pay, how a tragic day in New York City changed the world, why it’s important to work an honest job, how to love ourselves despite our flaws, and what it was like to grow up in the projects. Through it all, Barnes encourages youth and others to shun a life of crime and pursue a clean and honest existence that allows for love, forgiveness, healing, and for dreams to come true. The Mind of the Forensic Poet shares a young man’s thoughtful reflections on street life, gangs, education, and the world around him.

Violence In Everyday Life

by Aliraza Javaid, Violence In Everyday Life Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Violence In Everyday Life books, Violence in Everyday Life explores how identity markers such as gender and sexuality intersect with violence, synthesizing the themes of gender, sexuality and violence to offering a crucial and coherent framework for understanding the interrelationship between these concepts. Aliraza Javaid explores how violence is experienced at a local, regional and global level, and considers the ways in which hegemonic masculinities are reproduced through violence. Attention is given to the particular ways in which these constructions of masculinity are reflected in areas such as homophobic violence, transphobic violence, and violence against intimate partners. Drawing on new empirical data and his own personal experiences of violence, as well as identifying new areas for further research, Javaid's work represents a unique study of the interconnectedness of violence, gender and sexuality, and of how violence is fuelled by society's attitudes towards masculinity.
