Inverse Problems In Medical Imaging And Nondestructive Testing

by Heinz W. Engl, Inverse Problems In Medical Imaging And Nondestructive Testing Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Inverse Problems In Medical Imaging And Nondestructive Testing books, 14 contributions present mathematical models for different imaging techniques in medicine and nondestructive testing. The underlying mathematical models are presented in a way that also newcomers in the field have a chance to understand the relation between the special applications and the mathematics needed for successfully treating these problems. The reader gets an insight into a modern field of scientific computing with applications formerly not presented in such form, leading from the basics to actual research activities.

Wavelets

by John J. Benedetto, Wavelets Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Wavelets books, Wavelets is a carefully organized and edited collection of extended survey papers addressing key topics in the mathematical foundations and applications of wavelet theory. The first part of the book is devoted to the fundamentals of wavelet analysis. The construction of wavelet bases and the fast computation of the wavelet transform in both continuous and discrete settings is covered. The theory of frames, dilation equations, and local Fourier bases are also presented. The second part of the book discusses applications in signal analysis, while the third part covers operator analysis and partial differential equations. Each chapter in these sections provides an up-to-date introduction to such topics as sampling theory, probability and statistics, compression, numerical analysis, turbulence, operator theory, and harmonic analysis. The book is ideal for a general scientific and engineering audience, yet it is mathematically precise. It will be an especially useful reference for harmonic analysts, partial differential equation researchers, signal processing engineers, numerical analysts, fluids researchers, and applied mathematicians.

Method Of Spectral Mappings In The Inverse Problem Theory

by Vacheslav A. Yurko, Method Of Spectral Mappings In The Inverse Problem Theory Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Method Of Spectral Mappings In The Inverse Problem Theory books, Inverse problems of spectral analysis consist in recovering operators from their spectral characteristics. Such problems often appear in mathematics, mechanics, physics, electronics, geophysics, meteorology and other branches of natural science. This monographis devoted to inverse problems of spectral analysis for ordinary differential equations. Its aim ist topresent the main results on inverse spectral problems using the so-called method of spectral mappings, which is one of the main tools in inverse spectral theory. The book consists of three chapters: In Chapter1the method of spectral mappings ispresented in the simplest version for the Sturm-Liouville operator. In Chapter 2the inverse problem of recovering higher-order differential operators of the form, on the half-line and on a finite interval, is considered. In Chapter 3inverse spectral problems for differential operators with nonlinear dependence on the spectral parameter are studied.

Operator Methods In Wavelets Tilings And Frames

by Keri A. Kornelson, Operator Methods In Wavelets Tilings And Frames Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Operator Methods In Wavelets Tilings And Frames books, This volume contains the proceedings of the AMS Special Session on Harmonic Analysis of Frames, Wavelets, and Tilings, held April 13-14, 2013, in Boulder, Colorado. Frames were first introduced by Duffin and Schaeffer in 1952 in the context of nonharmonic Fourier series but have enjoyed widespread interest in recent years, particularly as a unifying concept. Indeed, mathematicians with backgrounds as diverse as classical and modern harmonic analysis, Banach space theory, operator algebras, and complex analysis have recently worked in frame theory. Frame theory appears in the context of wavelets, spectra and tilings, sampling theory, and more. The papers in this volume touch on a wide variety of topics, including: convex geometry, direct integral decompositions, Beurling density, operator-valued measures, and splines. These varied topics arise naturally in the study of frames in finite and infinite dimensions. In nearly all of the papers, techniques from operator theory serve as crucial tools to solving problems in frame theory. This volume will be of interest not only to researchers in frame theory but also to those in approximation theory, representation theory, functional analysis, and harmonic analysis.

Regularization Methods In Banach Spaces

by Thomas Schuster, Regularization Methods In Banach Spaces Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Regularization Methods In Banach Spaces books, Regularization methods aimed at finding stable approximate solutions are a necessary tool to tackle inverse and ill-posed problems. Usually the mathematical model of an inverse problem consists of an operator equation of the first kind and often the associated forward operator acts between Hilbert spaces. However, for numerous problems the reasons for using a Hilbert space setting seem to be based rather on conventions than on an approprimate and realistic model choice, so often a Banach space setting would be closer to reality. Furthermore, sparsity constraints using general Lp-norms or the BV-norm have recently become very popular. Meanwhile the most well-known methods have been investigated for linear and nonlinear operator equations in Banach spaces. Motivated by these facts the authors aim at collecting and publishing these results in a monograph.

Clifford Algebras And Spinor Structures

by Rafal Ablamowicz, Clifford Algebras And Spinor Structures Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Clifford Algebras And Spinor Structures books, This volume is dedicated to the memory of Albert Crumeyrolle, who died on June 17, 1992. In organizing the volume we gave priority to: articles summarizing Crumeyrolle's own work in differential geometry, general relativity and spinors, articles which give the reader an idea of the depth and breadth of Crumeyrolle's research interests and influence in the field, articles of high scientific quality which would be of general interest. In each of the areas to which Crumeyrolle made significant contribution - Clifford and exterior algebras, Weyl and pure spinors, spin structures on manifolds, principle of triality, conformal geometry - there has been substantial progress. Our hope is that the volume conveys the originality of Crumeyrolle's own work, the continuing vitality of the field he influenced, and the enduring respect for, and tribute to, him and his accomplishments in the mathematical community. It isour pleasure to thank Peter Morgan, Artibano Micali, Joseph Grifone, Marie Crumeyrolle and Kluwer Academic Publishers for their help in preparingthis volume.
