Absolute Poverty And Global Justice

by Prof Dr Elke Mack, Absolute Poverty And Global Justice Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Absolute Poverty And Global Justice books, Absolute poverty causes about one third of all human deaths, some 18 million annually, and blights billions of lives with hunger and disease. Developing universalizable norms aimed at tackling absolute poverty and the complex and multilayered problems associated with it, this book considers the levels, trends and determinants of absolute poverty and global inequality. Examining whether much faster progress against absolute poverty is possible through reductions in national and global inequalities that produce economic growth for poor countries and households, this book suggests that diverse moral views imply that international agencies as well as the citizens, corporations and governments of affluent countries bear a moral responsibility to reduce absolute poverty. In considering strategies of eradication through specific policies and structural reforms it is argued that because of its moral importance and requirement for only modest efforts and resources, the goal of overcoming absolute poverty must be given much higher political priority by international agencies and governments of affluent countries. Suggesting that these agencies should be encouraged to facilitate and promote new initiatives, this book concludes with a discussion of how such initiatives might be realized.

Global Justice And Neoliberal Environmental Governance

by Chukwumerije Okereke, Global Justice And Neoliberal Environmental Governance Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Global Justice And Neoliberal Environmental Governance books, "With specific focus on three environmental regimes, this book explores the way that various notions of justice feature both implicitly and explicitly in the design of global environmental policies. In so doing, the dominant conceptions of justice that underpin these policies are identified and, in turn, criticised on the basis of their compatibility with the normative essence of global sustainable development. The book demonstrates that, although moral norms have a far greater impact on regime development than is currently acknowledged, the core policies for the most part remain rooted in two neoliberal interpretations of justice, both of which undermine the ability to achieve sustainable development and international justice."--BOOK JACKET.

Global Distributive Justice

by Chris Armstrong, Global Distributive Justice Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Global Distributive Justice books, Global distributive justice is now part of mainstream political debate. It incorporates issues that are now a familiar feature of the political landscape, such as global poverty, trade justice, aid to the developing world and debt cancellation. This is the first textbook to focus exclusively on issues of distributive justice on the global scale. It gives clear and up-to-date accounts of the major theories of global justice and spells out their significance for a series of important political issues, including climate change, international trade, human rights and migration. These issues are brought to life through the use of case studies, which emphasise the connection of theories of justice to contemporary politics, and 'Further Issues' sections, which discuss emerging debates or controversies that are likely to command increasing attention in the coming years.
